Time for one more tour…
I just couldn’t let it lie. After hanging up my keyboard a couple of years ago, following a period of writing an independent higher ed blog (Registrarism, which you can still find here if you like your HE out of date) and then many happy years writing for Wonkhe, it seemed time to return to the fray and try something a bit different.
Actually not that different in reality as my intention here is to provide a range of familiar HE stuff, both sensible and more throwaway, from regulation to rankings and from transnational education to true crime on campus (of course). The difference will be that I probably won’t be achieving the frequency of posting I’d previously managed but also the editorial standards will inevitably be slacker than before meaning that some shoddy material will slip through. As ever though, all of this represents my personal views and not those of my employer.
I will also be ransacking the archives to extract the marvellous and the more mediocre from the 1400 or so blog posts over the past decade and a bit which might still be of interest and/or relevance.
What’s in a name?
As you might be able to tell I have struggled to come up with an exciting new name for this blog with a vaguely leading HE vibe. Unsurprisingly ChatGPT came up with a rather surreal list of options, none of which seemed suitable. The highlights of these automated suggestions included:
- ElevateED Insights
- Academic Ascendance
- Leadership Luminary
- EduVisionary Chronicles
- Scholarly Strategist
- Higher Ed Herald
- Academic Leadership Alcove
- Wisdom in Higher Ed
- EduPinnacle
- Leadership Nexus: Higher Ed Edition
- Higher Ed Navigator
- Executive Scholarly Pursuits
- Campus Compass Chronicles
- Academic Trailblazer
- Academic Leadership Odyssey
- Pinnacle Perspectives
- EduEmpower Chronicles
- Academic Vanguard
- The Scholar’s Helm
- Leadership Luminescence
There really are some outstanding options there. Having decided against the Academic Leadership Alcove/Odyssey or Scholar’s Helm though I’ve gone for a slightly broader title (with a very particular musical origin) to cover all possibilities.
So apologies in advance for repetition and do let me know what you think and any suggestions you might have for wonderful HE info to share .
