You Couldn’t Make It Up

University rankings are renowned for their precision and accuracy. The attention to detail and methodological sophistication mean that we can always be confident that they are giving us a completely correct view of reality.

In 2022 we presented the most complete and totally robust ranking of fictional universities ever seen. Much has happened since then and some of it not totally made up. Therefore it falls again to us to offer this wholly necessary riposte to the harsh realities of the real rankings with an entirely bogus league table featuring fictional universities and colleges from movies, books and TV (or some other entertaining purpose).

Thanks to the efforts of our completely focused and obsessive data partner we can be totally confident that once again we have the most accurate, precise, data rich and exciting ranking of fictional institutions.

The methodology here is just a wee bit too complex to explain fully so you’ll just have to take it from us, it really is all tickety boo.

So here is your all new 2025 top 20. There are some significant movements at the top of the table with a first ever top placing for the remarkable rural home of agricultural achievement that is Cow Eye Community College. 

There are two new entries in the top 20 too – Euphoric State continues an impressive rise from 43 back in 2020 to 17 this year and it’s a return to the top 20 for Watermouth University.

And big risers include Wrottesley Poly, now challenging for the top spot,  Wellington College and Felpersham University which has reached its highest ever placing. Questions will be asked about the marked decline at Winchester and Manchester Medlock, perhaps a fresh approach is needed there.
